"Carry out the Eratosthenes Experiment. Measure The Size of The Earth! "
Contact: Karl Torstein Hetland
The Norwegian World Year of Physics committee together with the GLOBE Program (www.globe.gov) and GLOBE Europe (www.globe-europe.org) wants to highlight The World Year of Physics by conducting the Eratosthenes experiment. This means that we will repeat a 2200 year old experiment and measure the size of the Earth by using shadows. This experiment was chosen by physicists to be the seventh most beautiful experiment in the history.
We invite schools all over the world to participate in this event.
You will find detailed information about the experiment and a registration form on http://www.naturfagsenteret.no/fysikk/eratosthenes/index.html
