Events:

In order to celebrate the WYP2005 the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine plans to organize the following events:

  • A series of lectures and discussions on Physics in general and WYP2005 will be organized in mass media, high and secondary schools, etc. with a participation of leading physicists of NAS of Ukraine

  • A curriculum of the Scientific Seminar of Department of Physics and Astronomy of the NAS of Ukraine is modified to meet the World Year of Physics

  • The physics achievements in the world after Einstein will be discussed on General Meeting of academic community (National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Ukrainian Physical Society) of Ukraine (May 2005, Kyiv)

  • The current problems of physical researches in Ukraine will be discussed in Scientific Session of Department of Physics and Astronomy of the NAS of Ukraine and the Meeting of the Administrative Board of the NAS of Ukraine (April 2005, Kyiv)

  • The Congress of Ukrainian physicists, devoted to the WYP2005, is planed on September 2005 in Odesa, contact: Prof. V. Lytovchenko, e-mail: lvg@isp.kiev.ua

  • During Einstein Year, national physics competitions for secondary school pupils, PhD students and young scientists will be organized and held with the legend of the WYP 2005

  • National competition on the best popular article on physics; the best multimedia presentation describing physical effects; the best photo illustrating the topic WYP 2005; for the best devices showing physical effects in macroscale; for the best web-site on physics will be announced

  • Public Round Table discussions “Physics in Ukraine: past, current state and future”, “Physics and Industry” and “Teaching physics: main problems” will be organized

  • Meetings and competitions in Physics of young physicists will be held in Kharkiv, Lviv, and Kyiv

  • Special issues of physical journals and magazines of the NAS of Ukraine will be dedicated to the centenary of Einstein's works and will be published with the Logo of WYP2005

  • With the legend of the WYP 2005 several conferences will be held in Ukraine, namely:

It is planed also:

  • To launch an website where general public can read latest news in physics in the Ukrainian language, also find out about physics and technology in Ukraine and about relevant career opportunities

  • To organize a series of popular, public and rather unconventional lectures given by our prominent scientists; the general topic might be the past and present of physics and its future challenges

  • To promote a national movement for the improvement of the teaching of physics in all educational levels

  • To organize Week of Physics as well as the National Physics Day with Physics and Book exhibitions, multi media presentations and institutional open doors of university physics departments, physical institutes, laboratories, etc. for the general public (together with Ukrainian Physical Society)

  • To initiate a new book series “Profession of Physics” for the researchers of tomorrow and to organize a web-based forum that will offer educational material for teachers and pupils
